Black Hills Tennis

Mr. Glenn says tennis has always been a pleasure to him, and this year was no different. The tennis team has the same routine each day as they begin by loose warming up and hitting, then a group dynamic stretch and warm-up, then drill play focusing on specific strokes or stroke combinations, and then match play. As a child, Mr. Glenn started playing tennis in third grade and his neighbor even had a tennis court. He then eventually played at Olympia High School, and is also a member of the Tumwater Valley Racquet Club. Coach Glenn’s goal this season was to get players to the State tournament. He did just that when Gunnar Nelson is moved on to State in May. Gunnar went undefeated in league play this season. He also won the league tournament as well. When faced with very difficult competition at Districts, Gunnar played a great tournament, stayed focused, and pulled out tough matches to take 3rd and a state tournament placement. Gunnar says his goal is to place in the top 5 at State this upcoming May. His Favorite tennis player is Roger Federer and models his game after John Isner. The favorite memory of Gunnars career is placing 8th with his brother Garrett in doubles last season. Gunnar plays tennis because he has had love for the game since he’s been young. He’s played in tennis tournaments around the U.S since the age of 4!  As a team this season the Wolfpack struggled going 0-7 in league this year, but did have four separate occasions being tied (3-3), but ended up losing based on contests won. Great Season WolfPack!
