DIY Projects

Birdseed ornaments

1

This easy craft is great to do in the wintertime when birds have a hard time finding food. If you are an animal lover, you will love this project. Just hang these outside on a tree and watch the birds flock to your yard. These feeders do not take very long to make and are a very cheap way to help our local wildlife. If the birdseed and peanut butter has been eaten off the pinecones, you can reuse the pinecones and reapply more peanut butter and seed. Click the link below for detailed instructions.

Materials:

  • Pinecones ( as many as you would like)
  • One jar of peanut butter
  • One bag of birdseed
  • Twine or string

Ping Pong Ball Lights

2

Strands of these lights are a great way to accent and light up your room. This craft is a little time consuming so make sure you start with enough time to complete it. You can hang them above your bed or on a dresser to create a warm ambiance for your bedroom. Make sure you use LED lights so they do not overheat with the plastic on each light. Click the link below to find out more.

Materials:

  • Strand of 100 LED lights
  • 100 Ping Pong Balls
  • Xacto Knife

Book Page Flowers

3

Instead of buying real flowers that wither and die, you can make these simple flowers out of your favorite book or even sheet music to create an everlasting bouquet. They can be put in vases, attached to pens, used as corsages or anything you so desire. You can find printable sheet music online or go to a used bookstore to buy cheap books you can cut up. The instructions say you can use any glue, but I have found mod podge works the best and lasts the longest. Click the link below for instructions on how to make this unique craft.

Materials:

  • Book pages or sheet music ( cut into 4in squares)
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Mod podge
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Floral tape
