The Lady Wolves tennis team is ready to roll for their Spring 2017 season. Senior Hope Johnston has been grinding in the off season to perfect her swing. Last year, Hope placed 5th/6th at the Singles District Tournament and 4th at Sub-Districts. Hope’s placement at Districts was undecided between 5th and 6th because there was no game to decide who took 5th or 6th, even though we know our terrific tennis star would have easily taken the win. This year, Hope plans to rally, and do even better than the last. Aside from all of the hard work she puts into her game, Johnston loves to spend time with her teammates, especially Abby Calvert and Selina Ryser. Hope also is a star in all of her cross-country meets in the Summer and Fall.
Senior Sydney Sims is a first time participant on the girls tennis team. The veteran Varsity Volleyball star is switching up her sport for the Spring season. She is very excited to learn more about the game and see how she can grow throughout the season since she is new to the sport. She is also excited to have some fun in the sun once Spring is in full swing. Sydney is doubles partners with Alexa Klotz. Both girls were on the Volleyball team in the Fall.
Mr. Bert, the girls tennis coach, is very eager to get the season started. He tells all of the girls in his PE classes that they can still join. He also has his PE students do some of the coordination drills that he makes his team do. He is very passionate about tennis and puts cool nicknames on the back of his sweatshirts each season.
The Sub-District Tournament will take place on May 5th and May 6th. The District Tournament will be on May 12th and May 13th. The girls schedule can be found online on the 2A Evergreen website. Enjoy some time in the sun and go out and support the Lady Wolves tennis team!
